Member Bio:
Tony Houston, a native of Dayton, Ohio, now lives in the Columbus area. Tony has played guitar for over 35 years and during that time played many styles of music but the blues was always in his soul. He received his nickname for his collection of hats.
From 1984 to 1990, Tony was a member of blues bassist Snapper Mitchum’s band, Snapper and The Blues Invaders. That band recorded the album “Born In The Ghetto” which reached #10 on the Living Blues magazine record chart. Those years playing with Snapper gave Tony the opportunity to have many guitar duels that included the late blues legend Lefty Dizz, Phil and Buddy Guy. It was playing with such great stars that honed his Chicago blues style of playing.

I've been a big of Robert Cray, and almost had the chance to jam with him back in '83, but I had a bike accident that kept me from playing. I've been blessed to meet & play with a lot of my blues heroes, like Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, also Hubert Sumlin http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh260/thouston_02/mehubert_fdp.jpg and many others. - When I first saw Robert Cray

I met Robert Cray on his first national tour, they were playing small venues like the Canal Street Tavern http://www.canalstreettavern.com/index.php in my home town of Dayton, OH. I think it was a wed night, but I remember that there was only about 10 people in the club. Cray sat with me all night drinking beers. The tour had his band coming thru the Mid-West to the East Coast, and back the same way. He was booked to play at Canal Street in 12wks. He told me to bring my guitar & amp, and that he would let me sit-in for a couple of songs. About two weeks before he came back, I had a bike accident where I broke my elbow and two fingers. But by this time, Albert King had recorded Cray's 'Phonebooth', and the club was packed. There was a table reserved for the band and Cray had me sit with him. - The old band
I just wonder what happened with the old band members, I mean Karl Sevareid and Kevin Hayes. They are great musicians and very nice people (I met Karl and Kevin a few years ago), so I’m sad about the substitution of these two members of the band…
I don't know, but was happily surprised to see Richard Cousins back on bass. Cousins was The Robert Cray Band's original bassist, and it just seemed that Robert & Richard were soul mates when playing live. - This time

Yeah, mine came autographed in the mail on Tues, and I've listened to it at least once a day since then. Of course Bob, and the band sound great, and both the production & engineering are outstanding as well. We recording our second CD 'The Cold Backhand of Love' and I'm using This Time as a reference CD. Tony The Primetime Blues Band www.primeblues.com
