Long-time fan, new member here. Just noticed that a new RC album was released last week: Robert Cray, Authorized Bootleg: Live/Outdoor Concert, Austin, Texas May 25, 1987. Description glombed from the web:
“Here’s another great live record from Robert Cray. Cray’s new Authorized Bootleg album was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1987, while Cray was still super-hot following the release his huge, breakout album, Strong Persuader. It captures the bluesman in a rollicking, soulful, and fun performance in Austin, Texas. Cray’s band is top-notch, and Cray himself sounds energized and exuberant in both his vocals and his superb guitar playing. The 19-song set has a much more immediate and intimate feel and sound than last year’s Live at the BBC. That album was recorded in 1988 and 1991, and while a worthwhile listen, it sounds a bit sterile and over-processed in comparison to Authorized Bootleg. We highly recommended this one, and if you’re interested in a recording of one of Cray’s more recent live shows, check out Live from Across The Pond. It’s also quite impressive.”
I just downloaded from iTunes and am about half way through—great stuff!
Really looking forward to seeing Robert and the boys in just about a week at the Doheny Blues Festival! Take care.
